Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer (b. 1950, Gallipolis, Ohio, USA) is one of the most influential conceptual artists of her generation, internationally recognized for her pioneering use of language as an artistic medium. Working across LED signs, projections, stone carvings, paintings, billboards, and printed materials, Holzer transforms words into powerful visual experiences that challenge the boundaries between public and private space. Her practice addresses themes of power, violence, memory, vulnerability, and political responsibility, creating a profound dialogue between personal emotion and collective history. Since the late 1970s, Holzer has exhibited extensively worldwide, with major solo exhibitions at institutions including the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate Modern, London; Guggenheim Bilbao; K21 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf; Museo de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, Porto; and Glenstone, Potomac, among many others.
