Isaac Julien (b. 1960, UK) is as acclaimed for his fluent, arresting films as for his vibrant and inventive gallery installations. His 1989 documentary-drama exploring author Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance titled Looking for Langston garnered Julien a cult following. Julien is currently on view at the Whitney Museum, at MoMA New York, and recently held a major solo exhibition at the Tate, London.
